The franchise industry is getting some extra, well-deserved recognition. Two states, Maryland and Nevada, have declared and held "Franchise Appreciation Day" in their states. The date was September 1st for this year and will be observed on the first Saturday of Labor Day weekend each year. Both states have identical wording in their respective Governor’s Proclamations of the date: Franchise Appreciation Day is a "day to create awareness to increase customer knowledge on the importance of using social media networks and location-based services to connect with, and continue to support local franchises. Customers will enjoy a day to support their favorite franchises by receiving discounts and giveaways…". Nevada’s proclamation continues to declare that "in observance of Franchise Appreciation Day, Nevada residents are encouraged to eat, shop, drink and support local franchises" This is great idea for a great day!!
The website www.franchiseappreciationday.com has more information and promotes such appreciation days. There you can find an inspirational video and more information and statistics about the franchising model.
We hope this will become a national trend. It is a great idea as any acknowledgment of the importance of the franchise industry to this nation’s economy is a step in the right direction.
